About Costumes
Costumes is a Mac menu bar app that changes how your Mac looks and behaves, on cue.
A costume is a look: dark mode with a purple accent and a hidden Dock, say, or light mode with a bright wallpaper and the volume turned down. A cue says when to put it on: at sunset, when you plug in a display, when you open Keynote, when you join the office Wi-Fi. You can also put on any costume from the menu bar.
Why it exists
I like my Mac dark in the evening and light during the day, with different colors and wallpapers for different kinds of work. Switching all of that by hand got old, and macOS only automates a small part of it. So I built the app I wanted: one place to describe a look, and one place to say when it should happen.
How it works
- Everything runs on your Mac. No account, no cloud, no analytics.
- Cues keep running with the app closed if you turn on the background helper.
- One price, paid once. Free updates.
