Common questions

Can cues run while Costumes is closed?

Yes. Turn on "Run cues when Costumes is closed" in Settings, General. Costumes then starts a small background helper as a login item, and it keeps your cues running after you quit the app and after you restart. Turn the switch off to stop it. You can also see it in System Settings, General, Login Items.

Why didn't a setting change?

Some changes go through System Events. The first time, macOS asks whether Costumes may control System Events; choose Allow. If you said no, turn it back on in System Settings, Privacy & Security, Automation.

Keyboard shortcut cues aren't working

Shortcut cues need Accessibility permission. Costumes asks when you make your first one. You can also turn it on in System Settings, Privacy & Security, Accessibility.

Location or sunset cues aren't firing

Sunrise, sunset and location cues need Location Services. Allow Costumes in System Settings, Privacy & Security, Location Services. Your location never leaves your Mac.

How do I get updates?

Costumes checks for updates about once a day. To check now, choose Check for Updates from the menu bar icon. Updates are free.

I lost my download link

Once Costumes is on sale, you can download it again any time with the email you used at checkout.

Do I need a license key?

No. Costumes is paid upfront. Once it's installed, everything works.

Can I use it on more than one Mac?

Yes, on any Mac you own.

How do I get a refund?

Email hello@greatwork.company within 30 days of purchase for a full refund, no questions asked.

What do I need to run it?

macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. Liquid Glass and icon style settings need macOS 26.

How do I remove Costumes completely?

Turn off "Open at login" and "Run cues when Costumes is closed" in Settings, quit Costumes, then move it from Applications to the Trash. Your costumes and cues are in the Costumes folder in ~/Library/Application Support if you want to delete those too.
